Disney Baltic Cruise

I would like to explain what my family and I did each day while enjoying our family vacation on the Disney Magic;

Day 1; We arrived at the port of Copenhagen in Denmark at around 13:00, but you can board as early as 11. We gave ourselves 3 hours to board (the ship leaves at 4:00 p.m.) so we could explore Copenhagen before going on vacation. This day included exploring the boat and signing up for the kids’ clubs. One of the amazing things about Disney is their kids club. They have rooms for children of different ages where they can hang out, participate in activities and make new friends. This allows parents to spend time alone knowing their children are safe and having fun. After getting to know the boat, everyone gathered on deck 9 to sail and have fun during “Mickey’s Sailing Away Party”. During this, everyone waves to the travelers staying in Copenhagen and dances together with Mickey and his friends on stage. After this was over, we headed to the theater show at 6:30 p.m. Depending on your requested dinner time (6:00 or 8:30 p.m.), you will watch the theater show at either 6:30 or 8:30 p.m., as opposed to eating dinner. I really love the shows. Disney does an amazing job of coming up with themes and specials to entertain their audiences.

Day 2 was a “Day at Sea” so we didn’t stop anywhere. We enjoyed our day watching Disney movies at the Buena Vista Theater, participating in Vibe games (teen club), having lunch at Cabanas (buffet on Deck 9), enjoying a new theater show, and having dinner in one of the three circulators. food restaurants (Lumiere’s, Animators Palate or Cariocas.) Depending on your room card, you can alternate between these three different delicious restaurants. This evening included a formal dinner. This means we were encouraged to dress stylishly (like men’s dresses & skirts or suits.) Days at sea are, in my opinion, one of the best days on a boat. Disney offers its guests either Cabanas (buffet on deck 9), Lumiere’s (one of three revolving dining restaurants) or one of the quick service restaurants on deck 9. Quick service restaurants include Daisy’s Delights (sandwich). , salad, fruit and cookie stand), Pete’s Boiler Bites (burger, hotdog, Taco, etc… American diner) and Pinocchio’s Pizza (a pizza stand where you can build any pizza you want.) Disney’s Magic does a fantastic job creating A-grade food throughout the day, ensuring that the food cooks quickly but retains its incredible taste. Food isn’t the only reason I love a day at sea. While the food is a key element, Disney also provides guests with a news article each night to see what activities they have for the next day (you also have the option to use the Disney Cruise Line app to see activities and menus for each day.) This activity magazine is always full of karaoke, newly released movies, practice games and more during sea days. Disney makes sure that there is always something fun and new for their guests to do on the boat, because some people might get bored of not having anywhere to dock.

Day 3 we stopped in Tallinn, Estonia. We arrived and walked around Tallinn’s old town, which gave us a real insight into their culture. We also got to know the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, the Estonian Maritime Museum (an old prison) and Fat Margarets Tower (a big building next to the ship). As most of you know, northern Europe has very unpredictable weather. Knowing this, I packed different clothes and layers. Tallinn stayed in the 60 degree range for most of our visit which was incredible. I wore leggings (lululemon), a top (lululemon), a long sweater (Madewell), and tennis shoes (New Balance.) My dad and brother could only wear shorts and a shirt, so it really depends on your tolerance for cool weather. I’m a small girl so the wind was a bit chilly for me, explaining the long sweater.

Day 4 we stopped in St. Petersburg, Russia. On this day we decided to get a bus driver and a guide (Alla Tours). There were several churches (eg Church of the Blood) and palaces (Catherine’s Palace) in St. Petersburg, so we needed someone to help us find our way around. I recommend you find yourself a reliable guide (like Alla Tours) because during our visit to Catherine Palace (and a few other monuments in the city) the line wrapped around the building to get in, but our guide found a way to bypass. line and sneak us in in just 15 minutes. Like Tallinn, St. Petersburg had very strange weather. The morning was chilly, forcing me to wear a scarf (Madewell) and a thick jacket (Madewell), but later in the day the temperature warmed up (perhaps 67 degrees F), allowing me to wear only a light raincoat (Spice), as St. Petersburg tended to get wet every now and then . There was no theater show tonight because everyone was on board at 11:30 p.m. That means you had the option of staying out in Russia until 11:30pm or coming in early and having dinner but no show.

Day 5 we stopped in Helsinki. This day was a bit shorter because everyone was on board around 5 pm. We decided to ride the carousel to see the city and go on a boat trip to explore a small island with Finnish history (Suomenlinna). We didn’t know how big and historic Suomenlinna is, so we didn’t get to see all of its rich history. I recommend spending several hours here if you decide to visit this place in Finland. This evening included a semi-formal dinner. This means we had to dress a little fancier than usual for our dinner to take pictures. Disney does not require you to dress up for any of the cruise nights, but on these special nights it is highly recommended. I was wearing a mini skirt (Abercrombie & Fitch), a top (American Eagle) and sandals (Tory Burch.)

Day 6 we stopped in Stockholm, Sweden. This day was even shorter because it was 15:30 for everyone on board. We decided to visit the armory and the royal palace next to it. If you are traveling with boys or men, I recommend visiting the Armory. It was very cool for my brother and father to see all the military armor, weapons and royal carriages. We also bought tickets for the Hop on Hop off bus, but it was very busy and full (as all the ships docked in Stockholm that day), I would not recommend buying a ticket for this bus in this city. Tonight Disney included “Anna & Elsa’s Frozen Deck Party” which meant we all went to deck 9 before dinner to watch the Frozen characters dance and sing on stage. Disney also changed their theatrical release tonight. Unlike their normal Broadway style show, they gave us a comedy act.

Day 7 was our last day, meaning it was another “day at sea”. This day was very similar to day 2, except the cruise included activities such as booking all the memories and Jack Jack’s diaper line (a race between babies who can crawl). Usually my family and I prefer to have lunch at Cabanas (unlimited). the buffet is always nice), but on this day my dad and I decided to try Lumieres for lunch. I had a cuban sandwich and veal parmesan with pasta (two entrees were a must on this day) and my dad had shrimp and pad thai noodles. Both meals were fantastic! Disney found a way to blow us away again. When the day was almost over, we enjoyed the last show (Disney Dreams) and dinner at the Animators Palate (one of the 3 rotating restaurants). When all was said and done, the cruise ended the day with a “See You Soon” party in the Lobby Atrium on Deck 3. This presentation included a farewell to all the characters on board and a pin exchange session (all guests on board came together to exchange their Disney pins.)

Day 8 was our last morning on board, which meant you went to breakfast where you had dinner the night before or ate at the Cabanas (buffet on deck 9). My family and I ate at Animators Palate once. more. After having their last meal on board, everyone disembarked and headed to the airport to fly home. Disney allows all their guests to eat and explore the ship before departure, which was nice because we didn’t feel rushed to get off the boat and let new guests start their vacation.
