If you are a rough angler, you know the challenge of stalking different species of fish. This reel is ambidextrous and quite light, a feature that is important to me during long fishing sessions. It has 2 stainless steel ball bearings for smooth operation and holds 200 yards of 6 pound test line. The transmission ratio is 5.2:1 and the gearbox is cold forged. Cold forging is a process in which metal, often aluminum, is forced into a die, where it deforms in a controlled manner and takes the shape of the mold. In the case of cold-forged aluminum, the metal is also subjected to a heat treatment hardening process that strengthens it. The Catana 2500 RA comes with an extra ultra light graphite spool in addition to the standard aluminum spool. Despite its exceptionally low price of around £24.99, the reel features 3D CAD-CAM gearing for precise action and exceptional smoothness.

Another top feature of this affordable reel is the progressive multi-disc rear brake system with a surprisingly wide range of adjustments. This makes the reel suitable for everything from heavy spinning to light fire fishing. The Dyna-Balance® feature can be considered similar to balancing a car tire.
