Postcard Marketing – How To Successfully Combine Traditional Marketing With Internet Marketing

I remember it like yesterday. I had a list of leads that I had bought and started working on the phones. Have you ever done that? You talk to people who are happy to hear from you, right? Yeah…don’t we all want to.

Time after time, “How did you get my name?” “I’m not interested!” “I told the last three people to remove me from your list!”…and so on and so forth.

Yup. Here I was trying to do one of the most innocent and noble things a man can do, provide for his family. To do this, I chose a path that would allow me to help others gain the same freedom I seek. I didn’t cold call people. I called people asking for information. Over time, if you continue, you will learn to remove them. That being said, when you genuinely try to help someone and they hit back at you, it hurts.

Most people new to the industry don’t survive that rejection very long. But Is This How We Do It? There’s no better way, right?

I thought before that, and then someone told me about postcards. I heard they produce a huge response……20-30%. People call YOU. I had to try it. Sure enough it worked. A couple of days after sending the postcards, one call after another came in. People called me. I was hooked. Never again will I HAVE to call a lead list and have people yell at me for calling them.

So what is it about postcard marketing that is so powerful? I’d say it’s a combination of potential customers finding YOU and potential customers then getting to know your business through replicable online systems. The moment you realize you’ve married these two, you lie at night feeling like you’ve just found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

How would that make you feel? How would you sleep at night if you KNEW that several people would be calling you every day hungry for information about your business? Would you sleep at all? I certainly didn’t when this first happened to me.

Okay, so what do you need to run a successful postcard campaign? Also, is there an advantage to using postcards for internet marketing instead of direct internet marketing?

I will answer the second question first. The benefit of using postcards is that it can jump start your internet marketing campaign. The beauty of internet marketing is that it is very effective (if done right) and most of it is FREE. Free works well with most people because most new distributors are broke when they enter the industry. However, starting an Internet campaign takes time. The biggest advantage of adding postcards to marketing is that it speeds up the process with low advertising costs.

Okay, what do you need? Well, it probably goes without saying that you need postcards. Buy postcards directly from the post office. You can even get them from their website if you want to order online. Go to usps.com and look for “stationary”. They cost $0.28 each and the stamp is already attached.

You need a mailing list. There are several sources for the list. You can buy OLD leads from multiple lead suppliers for as little as $0.03. They are usually several weeks to several months old. Still, they work surprisingly well.

You can also buy general demographic mailing lists. Look for 25-35 year old married home owners earning $40,000 to $75,000 per year. Buying this type of list gives you more targeted mailings, but it also costs more. Personally, I’ve always used cheaper old wires.

Okay, that’s it for your offline tools. For your online tools, you need a website with a FULL video presentation, a squeeze page (also called a lead capture page), and an email campaign. These are the tools you use to present your business to those who call you.

Now that we have all the tools, what do we need to do? Well, the first step is to write the postcards. Get a mailing list and put ONLY the name and address of potential customers on the front. NEVER…EVER…EVER…EVER put your return address on a postcard. If the address is fake or undeliverable, let the post office throw it away. A return address reduces prying eyes and people can also judge you based on stupid things like the street name. The bottom line is that your response rate will go down if you use a return address, so don’t do it.

WRITE the following message by HAND on the back:

(Name of Prospectus),

I would like to talk to you about a part-time management position in my company.

(your first name)

(your phone number)

That’s all. Write them like that and put them in the mail. I recommend sending 200 a week. If you get a 20% response (very normal for postcards), 200 will give you 40 new leads calling you every week. Think you can sign up with 40 people calling week after week?

What do you do when these people call? First, understand that most people don’t know what this postcard is about. They simply came home, got the mail and found this really unusual handwritten postcard. Simply to satisfy their curiosity, they had to call. It’s OK. To deal with the situation, you need to start asking questions. Since they call YOU, you automatically get the chance to interview them.

Here are the questions I always ask:

1. “What made you respond to the postcard and what might you be looking for?”

2. “What is your current occupation?”

4. “Do you have leadership experience in or outside the workplace?”

If you can’t find any issues based on their answers, tell them you want to go to step 2 and send them a SHORT video (no matter how long it is – short is a relative term) that gives an overview of the company and compensation. system. If they give you a hard time or want more information over the phone, say, “It’s all in the video, what’s your email?” If they still resist, they are not the person you are looking for, move on.

The email should be a link to your squeeze page. That’s why they have to choose a video to watch, which not only tells you they were there, but also lets you stay connected via email until they tell you otherwise. You shouldn’t call anyone back unless they agree.

When you call back, they MUST hear the full story through a third-party replication system. Just make sure they’ve watched the video and ask if they can get more information. If they say yes, schedule an appointment and put them on a three-way conference call. Make sure you let them know that they will have all their questions answered.

After the conference call, ask: “What questions do you need answered before we get started?” If they have questions, answer them. If they don’t, help them sign up. Pat on the back. You have just combined traditional marketing with online marketing successfully and very multiply.

I have personally sponsored several people by following this method. I know it works. I also understand that some of you may be in a company that lacks some of the pieces I mentioned above. I tried to approach this as broadly as possible, but each exact approach will probably need to be tweaked a bit for each company. The principles still apply.
