· Temporary weight loss as opposed to permanent weight loss. You may have returned to your pre-exercise or pre-diet weight after 6 months or 1 year or 2 years

A recent revolutionary discovery has turned the diet manufacturing and marketing industry upside down. Also on board are doctors who have wrongly advised their patients to lose weight for decades. Like all great medical discoveries, this one is considered controversial – at least for now. Maybe in five years this discovery will become the norm. (Remember when angioplasty was first introduced and there was also skepticism – now it is the procedure of choice for all mild to moderate arterial stenosis.)

The essence of this revolutionary discovery is that the colon and digestive system play a central role in obesity. This means that in order to lose weight, we need to target the colon and digestive tract, and thankfully not with fancy drugs or exercise programs, but with simple, common sense nutritional formulas.

1. In order to lose weight permanently, it must be kept safe. A safe weight loss program will not make you lose more than 2 pounds per week. If you lose more weight, check with your doctor to make sure that such rapid weight loss does not have any negative effects on your body or its functions.

2. Second, an effective weight loss program should also improve any other concurrent conditions or diseases. The main potential comorbid conditions that obese or overweight people have are diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Do these diseases get better with less weight? If so, you are on the right track and should stay with the program. If these conditions worsen, stop the program immediately.

3. Third, an effective program to help you lose weight should include regular deworming. I remember that about forty years ago, when I was a child, my mother regularly gave us worming medicine. The presence of these parasites interferes with nutrition and makes us really gain weight. If you notice malnourished children in starving countries, they have huge bellies. 6. Finally, a great weight loss program should include exercise in addition to good nutrition. However, training should not be expensive. It could be a gym membership or even working out at home or at a park near your home.

The interesting thing about this revolutionary discovery is that it is not revolutionary. The word revolutionary is a misnomer. It’s probably more appropriate to call it a “reinvention” since they were used by ancient civilizations like India, China, Aztecs, etc., before modern humanity became sedentary and was hijacked by a quick-fix mentality.
