TV Review – Survivor 20 Episode 1 – Best Season Yet

So I’m sure many of you watched the season 20 premiere of Survivor last night. I managed to watch it this morning and was very excited to see some of my favorite characters return to battle “nature” and each other in Heroes vs. In Villains.

There were a few highlights for me in this episode that are worth mentioning. First, the references to love between the dragon slayer and the black widow. You all know who I’m talking about: Coach and Jerri. They would make the perfect TV couple, wouldn’t they? You know that’s what you were hoping for, so maybe they’ll play it up in future episodes.

It was an interesting aspect that my favorite survivor, Russel, faded into the background towards the second half of the show. Either he’s quietly working his magic behind the scenes, or he’s found his match and is quickly falling prey to veteran players.

Finally, I was very happy that Ms. Sugar got the trunk at the end of the episode. I can’t stand him at all. She looks like she’s 12 and whines all the time. They must have been chosen to be on the show just to have someone to vote for in the first episode. It was funny watching Colby try to get away from him. Ouch! Colby refused. Not good.

In any case, this first installment lived up to the promises made in its promos. As one of the many who have watched every episode of Survivor since it began with Season 1, I can tell you that this is going to be the best yet. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Russel emerges from the shadows and truly takes his rightful crown as the best survivor to ever play the game.
