How to Have a Baby Boy by Eating Burgers and Fries – Does This Work?
Yes, the title is a little strange, but for years folklore has suggested that the key to a baby’s gender is what mothers eat before pregnancy. For parents-to-be who are wondering how to go about having a baby boy, research has shown that this is an area worth considering if you want to have a child of a specific gender.
The stories say that eating red meat and salty snacks can lead to boys, and eating chocolate and the like can lead to girls. Until recently, there was no hard evidence that this was true, although there was certainly a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest that it was more than just an old wives’ tale.
Over the past few years, scientists have conducted an experiment in which they compared 20 mice living on a so-called “normal” diet with 20 mice fed a diet that simulated a high-sugar diet in humans. The results showed that 53% of those on the normal diet gave birth to male offspring, while 60% of those on the simulated, higher sugar diet gave birth to female babies.
In contrast, the same was true when the mice were fed a low-sugar diet rich in red meat and salty foods such as hamburgers and fries, and the proportion of male offspring was much higher than in the control group.
These experiments have not been conducted on humans, but research strongly suggests that the results would be similar, and it is true that many “old wives’ tales” have more scientific basis than they care to admit. In fact, diet is just one way we naturally influence the gender of our children.
For those who want to have a baby boy, recommended foods include red meats, eggs, raisins, mushrooms, bread and beans. In addition, potassium-rich foods such as oranges and bananas, as well as salty foods, may be helpful. They also think that women who consume at least their recommended daily calorie intake is more likely to conceive a boy.
So while eating massive burgers and huge plates of fries won’t guarantee you’ll have a baby boy, there’s evidence that there’s more to it than just throwaway comments, and that eating these types of foods can increase the odds in your favor.
