These Drinks Definitely Cause Acne Breakouts
If you have acne, you know how painful it can be. Not only does it hurt on the outside, but for many, one or more zits can really ruin your day. Because of this, I want to talk about 4 different drinks that can and probably will cause a breakout. Before I list these 4 different drinks, let me tell you a little about my acne story.
I have struggled with acne for the last 6 years of my life. Now that I’m 21, I’m finally getting my breakouts under control. Well, my skin is not perfect. Every now and then I get a little pimple, but it doesn’t stop me from leaving my house or anything crazy like that. That being said, I used to have pretty bad acne. In fact, I would sit in my house for weeks and play video games just to hide from the world. Now that I’ve finally cleared up my problem, I can go out and do the things I love to do. If you want to get your life back on track, the following tips are sure to help. Now that you know a little bit about my story, let’s talk about the 4 drinks that are most likely to cause a breakout.
1. Soda – While they say sodas don’t cause breakouts, I beg to differ. I don’t know why, but it might have something to do with the way soda dehydrates the body. In case you didn’t know, dehydration can cause breakouts. Caffeine can also contribute to breakouts, leading to the next drink.
2. Coffee – I tend to break out when I drink regular caffeinated coffee. Remember, my skin is 99.9% clear, 99.9% of the time, so anytime I break out, I can pretty much pinpoint what caused the problem. I’m not a big coffee drinker, so when I add it to my diet and break out, I’m pretty sure it’s the drink that triggered it.
3. Alcohol – Like soda, alcohol is very dehydrating. I’m not big on drinking, but when I do, I tend to notice a few breakouts within 48 hours.
4. Energy Drinks – Finally, energy drinks seem to do the most damage. They are extremely dehydrating, usually high in caffeine and high in sugar. I’m not a big energy drink drinker, but when I do, I tend to notice a few breakouts.
When it comes down to it, removing the above 4 drinks from your diet will likely improve your complexion. I actually had a friend in high school who drank an energy drink everyday. She also had severe acne. After she stopped using energy drinks, her acne was completely gone.
On that last note, you should also know that drinking water can actually help clear up acne. If you drink more than 8 glasses of water a day, you may notice a significant change in your complexion. I definitely recommend you try this.
