Tips For Increasing Height

The soul is beyond the body, and from this point of view it is irrelevant how tall or short a person is. A man’s true height is his character and his actions.

However, high height is a natural ambition of humans. I agree that in the current context it is partly due to the glamor associated with the high altitude. If it encouraged the desire to increase height, the efforts would defeat the purpose. Because the real goal of increasing height should come from a sincere desire to reach the maximum of our potential. Tall height means full growth of the body, so we should strive to achieve this full growth.

Height varies from person to person, depending on genetics, climate and other conditions. Thus, general comparison of height with others is not a correct approach. Instead, the correct approach is to keep yourself as healthy as possible for full body growth.

I was born as a child of medium height. My height didn’t grow much until I was 17. At 17, at just over 5 feet tall, I was one of the shortest students in my class and was often ridiculed for being short and thin. Quite frankly, I felt humiliated at times and tended to avoid public company as much as possible. It got worse because I saw that many other boys who were shorter than me a few years ago were now taller than me.

But for once I decided not to rationalize any further and act like an ostrich. I decided to keep my concern in mind. I changed the whole pattern of life. Over the next two years I committed myself to new designs and by the time I was nineteen I was 5’11” and had an extremely flexible and agile body. Today I am over 6 feet tall.

In this article, I share the tips I followed during my height transformation process. I’m sure these will benefit everyone to reach their maximum potential:

Tip 1: Mind Power

Our body responds to our thoughts. According to our thought patterns, the appropriate hormones are secreted and physiological changes occur accordingly. Positive thoughts reverse the aging process and improve health. Negative thoughts accelerate the aging process and growth. Thus, the first critical step in increasing height is reprogramming your thought patterns. Not only does it help you increase your height, but it also benefits you in all areas of your life. For me it made me a hardworking person which helped me to get admission in IIT. Here are specific suggestions for mind programming to increase height:

  1. Don’t accept that you were born unhealthy and short. Visualize yourself as having the most perfect health and live every moment in that vision.
  2. Don’t compromise on quality. Demand as much of yourself as you can.
  3. Imagine your height increasing every moment with every movement you make.
  4. Stop the signs of anger, helplessness and discouragement.

Remember that willpower is the key. Once you get it right, rest will work automatically. If you try these tips without strong will power, it will never work. This secret will give you everything you want in life.

Tip 2: Food

Simply stop eating junk, fried, spicy and oily foods. I cannot overemphasize the importance of simple, nutritious, healthy meals. Our body is made up of the food we eat. We become adults only through the food we eat. Food is the raw material we use to build our building called our body. How can you expect a strong building to be built if you use material from a weaker scrap yard?

The following recommendations helped me:

  1. Eat at least two hours before bed
  2. A light dinner
  3. Regular consumption of sprouts
  4. Have a regular meal schedule and avoid the habit of snacking every now and then
  5. Avoid tea, coffee, cold drinks, ice cream, chocolate, etc. consumption
  6. Regular use of triphala powder at night or early morning
  7. Eating lots of fresh fruit
  8. Drinking lots of water
  9. A 10-15 minute walk after a meal
  10. We eat soaked almonds in the morning. The Gulbandi variety is the best.
  11. Dining in sukhasan. This posture is a wonderful gift from an ancient seer.

Tip 3: Practice

The human body was built to work hard and live actively. The more we avoid physical work, the more we tend to fall behind, to age faster and to get sick. Get into the habit of doing rigorous workouts at least three times a week and doing normal exercises the rest of the days.

My routine at the time was:

  1. Waking up at 5 a.m. and varied training until 8 a.m. These included a mixture of:
  • Running and jogging
  • Flexibility and stretch
  • Martial arts practice
  • asanas and pranayams
  • Meditation
  1. In the evening, I went to Taekwondo exercises three times a week. Practicing high kicks is extremely beneficial
  2. We went to play cricket on Sunday.

This active routine has done wonders for my body and my activity.

I would invite all health seekers to join taekwondo classes near you. Taekwondo is different from other martial arts. In taekwondo, the emphasis is on high kicks and free stretching, which helps the body grow. In many other martial arts, the focus is on restricting body movements to a small area. So it seems to limit the person’s height.

Similarly, weight training should be avoided during the first 20 years of life. This should be replaced with free hand exercises such as push-ups.

Many claim that Yogasan can help increase height. I even saw a video of it from a celebrated hathayogi. He gave an impassioned speech in the video that seemed to portray short height as the source of all misery and inferiority complex. Ironically, the hathayoga guru himself looked no more than five and a half feet tall!

The fact is that Hatha Yoga is overhyped these days and its benefits are overhyped as a marketing gimmick. Certain asanas are beneficial, but essentially the overall package of a healthy lifestyle is effective. Replace these hathasanas with any aerobic physical activity and the results will be exactly the same. Maybe even more!

Nevertheless, certain postures are very useful for increasing height. These should be included in your fitness routine – chakrasana, halasana, sarvangasana, pashchimatanasana, pavanmuktasana, hastapadasana, mayurasana. Among the pranayams, the only ones I have found really effective are Bahya Pranayam, Abhyantara and Chaturtha Pranayam. These provide all the benefits that various breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom, Bhastrika etc. they provide. These pranayamas with rigorous cardio in the open air give you all the benefits you want from a fitness regime.

Be sure to develop the habit of deep breathing. The art of deep breathing is discussed in a separate article.

Tip 4: Mixed

  1. Sleep well. The more you exercise, the more your body demands. Especially for growth, make sure you don’t deprive your body of much-needed rest.
  2. Sleep early. Work so hard during the day that you tend to fall asleep by 10pm. Wake up at 5 or 6, depending on your convenience. I prefer to change the time I wake up according to my body. Avoid late night sessions.
  3. Keep your spine straight
  4. While standing, try to stretch your entire body. Come to your toes every once in a while for a full stretch. You can even raise your arms for a fuller stretch. For more formal occasions, you can stand normally and still try to stretch your entire body without lifting your toes. Continue from time to time. If you’re on a bus, try to see if you can stretch without tiptoeing and touch the ceiling with your head.
  5. Do not sit in a static position for a long time. Keep moving and changing your posture. Stay active and give your body a little exercise every moment.

Tip 5: Brahmachraya (control of the mind)

Needless to say, all this only works with perfect control over the mind. Make it a habit to challenge your mind with even greater control every moment. When the mind is mastered, the world is at your feet, height is a petty thing.

To develop this mastery and realize what the real fun of life is, it is advisable to follow. The more you practice, the more you gain:

  1. Avoid any sensory input that tends to promote lustful thought patterns – romantic/vulgar songs, movies, literature, company. These produce hormones that accelerate the aging process and prevent full natural growth.
  2. Stop looking at the idiot box. In addition to dumbing down the mind, it makes your breath shallow and thus stunts your growth.
  3. Likewise, avoid video games, iPods, and other mind-numbing devices.
  4. Stop digging too much into the junk newspaper. Use it only to update. Filling your mind with depressing past stories first thing in the morning is the worst treatment you can give yourself, who is naturally programmed to always look ahead.
  5. Make actionable plans. Avoid discussions and analysis that have no relevance to practical application and are just a waste of time.
  6. Needless to say, avoid any action that leads to the loss of life energy and sperm.
