Every morning it was difficult to put on the small shoes. She kicked and cried and tried to pull her feet out of the baby shoes before I could lace them up. It was stressful for both of us to start the day this way, but I thought it was very important to follow the doctor’s instructions.

My niece said her baby book says not to put hard soled shoes on babies until they start walking. They found that babies were more likely to try to take steps when they were barefoot. I’m sure the next generation will be told a different theory. Especially with your first child, you are so nervous about parenting. You want to do everything right. When I think about the struggle I went through and how upset I made my son, it makes me angry. To this day, he doesn’t like wearing shoes.
