How to Give Your Boston Terrier a Bath
Bathing should not be a difficult situation for you or your dog. In fact, my boston terrier partner loves baths.
The first step is to prepare the bathroom. Put out the shampoo and towel. Pull out the shower door or curtain.
The second step is to take the dog to the bathroom. I will take one dog to the bathroom and the other will follow.
The third step is to take the dog into the bathtub. You will need to lift your dog often. I just tap the side of the tub and both my dogs jump in.
The fourth step is to hold the shower head firmly and away from the dogs.
The fifth step is to turn on the water. It should be warm but not hot. If you’ve bathed your baby before, that’s the right temperature.
The sixth step is to wet the dog. Hold the dog’s neck with one hand and the shower head with the other. Wet the dog slowly. Be careful not to get water on the dog’s face or ears. (I wash these with a damp cloth after bathing).
The seventh step is to turn off the water and put some dog shampoo on their back. Never use human shampoo as it can dry out or irritate the skin.
The eighth step is to lather the shampoo; work slowly around their back. Then I wash the neck and front legs. Then I soap the belly and hind legs. Be very gentle around the dog’s genitals and tail. These are very sensitive areas. Rub it in vigorously. Make sure you don’t miss any areas.
The ninth step is rinsing. Rinse and rinse again. You don’t want to leave soap on the dog.
The tenth step is to let the dog out of the tub. Let them tremble.
The eleventh step is to take a wet cloth and wash the dog’s face and ears. This is a very sensitive area, so be extra gentle.
The twelfth step is drying the dog with a towel. My boston terriers love this.
The last step is to let the dog out of the bathroom. My dogs are running around like crazy. Afterwards, I usually take a bath, rinse the tub and vacuum the floor.
