Death Has No Dominion Over You
Are you afraid of death? Many people in fear of death have made wrong steps and decisions, but death has no power over the Christian believer unless he allows it. God promises to satisfy you with a long life (Psalm 91:16) and fulfill the number of your days (Exodus 23:26). This article aims to free you from the fear of death and its consequences.
And set free those who for fear of death were enslaved all their lives – Hebrews 2:15 (NKJV).
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him, for we know that Christ, who has risen from the dead, will die no more. Death has no more dominion over Him – Rom. 6:8-9 (NKJV).
The fear of death is a weapon with which the enemy has enslaved many. The fear of death has made many follow the devil’s orders. Furthermore, people walk around in fear of a sudden attack, because they fear death, and thus open the door for the enemy to attack them; for the scriptures say: fear is torment (1 John 4:18), your hope is not forsaken (Proverbs 23:18, KJV), as a man thinks in his heart (Proverbs 23:7), and what you say you will receive (Mark 11 :23). When you expect negative things and acknowledge the same, it won’t take long for them to become a reality in your life. You must beware of this temptation to fear death and resist it!
Death, the last thing that destroys (1 Cor. 15:26), has no dominion over Christ, and anyone who accepts Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior also enjoys the same victory—death has no power over him. The fear of death is of the devil, but the fear of the Lord is life and will turn you from the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27). God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You did not fear the spirit of slavery again, but the spirit of adoption, so that you can cry “Father Abba” knowing that He is your sun and shield (Psalm 84:11), and your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). So who can touch you? If God is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31).
You must know who you are in Christ and your position in Him and walk in that consciousness. You are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, who is above many principalities and powers (Eph. 2:6, Eph. 1:20-21). Although you live on earth, you are a citizen of heaven and have all the support and protection of heaven. As such, what is not available in heaven is not allowed to manifest in your life.
Will you live forever on earth? No, but that according to God’s promise in the scriptures you should be satisfied with a long life and that you will fulfill the number of your days. Nothing but this promise you shall permit through sin or fear of death. You should go about your daily work believing that no bad will happen to you and that no plaque will be allowed near your apartment, a thousand may fall by your side, but no one will come near you. In fact, you should believe in the fulfillment of Psalm 91 in your life.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in Daniel 3 ruled over death. The furnace that killed others could not kill them because they knew who they were in God and believed in God’s ability to deliver them. They did not give in to the fear of death and thus did not make a wrong decision; rather they choose to obey God. Daniel also ruled over death. They threw him into the lion’s den, but the lions could not eat him, but when those who had conspired against him were thrown in, the lions held great feasts (Daniel 6). Daniel won because he did not let the fear of death stop him from serving his God. And God proved himself faithful in his life.
In addition, Paul showed great power over death. In Acts 14:19-20, certain Jews persuaded some people to stone Paul, then they threw him outside the city thinking he was dead, but he got up and left the city alive. To top it all off, he reached a point where he was torn between wanting to live or go and be with Christ (Philippians 1:21-26). Paul was a child of God like you, and God has not changed. The difference is that Paul had full faith in God’s word and trusted that the Lord would do what He said He would do.
Therefore, whatever happens around you, whatever you see or hear, do not give in to the fear of death, but believe that God will fully fulfill Psalm 91 in your life. Do not open the door through sin, and your testimony will be like that of Paul. May God satisfy you with long life and fulfill the number of your days in Jesus name.
