A Children’s Classic: Thomas The Tank Engine Movie

The Thomas the Tank Engine movie is a classic children’s movie. Thomas the track engine movie is based on the Railway series, which first saw the light back in 1945. It sold more than 8 million copies worldwide and is still one of the best-selling children’s books even 60 years after its first publication.

So here we present a brief resume of how Thomas the Tank Engine characters were brought to life. A three-year-old boy named Christopher Awdry has chicken pox and because of this he had to be quarantined. But to keep him amused, his father and Anglican priest Wilbert Awdry started telling him stories about the funny adventures of the unique train crew.

The story proved so fascinating to the little boy that he demanded more and more stories. Because of this, his father decided to start writing these stories to record the details and remember them in post-processing.

In addition to this, the venerable one took the trouble to draw a drawing of restless locomotives, to which he added a human smiling face. Mr. Awdry’s wife soon realized that her husband’s stories were good enough to be published and took his manuscript and pictures of Thomas the Tank Engine to editor Edmund Ward, who recognized the quality of the material. And thus the Railway series was released. However, Thomas the Tank Engine appeared only a year later in 1946.

The continued success of the book over the years motivated film producers to bring the story of the funny locomotive and its friends to the big screen. It was released in 1984, narrated by ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, and distributed in over 120 countries.

Recently, in 2000, a new film version was released called Thomas and The Magic Railroad; however, the film was not a success, but the locomotive’s success story continued in the direct-to-video version Calling all engines!
