A version of PIG

Best played with 2 players, but can be played with up to four players.

You will need… 2 Cube, paper and pen for scoring.

Target… Be the first player to reach 100 points.

How to play… Each player rolls the two dice one after the other. He has three throws. You add up your points as you go.

If a 1 is rolled, that player’s turn ends and no points are awarded. If after one or two rolls you decide to “hold” (instead of risking a 1 on your next roll and losing all your points), you keep your score and pass the die to the next player.

Examples of scoring…

Example 1: Peter rolls a 3 and a 4 and decides to continue. He then rolls a 6 and a 1. Since he rolled a 1, Peter’s turn ends and he gets 0 points.

Example 2: Jack rolls a 6 and a 2 and decides to continue. He then rolls a 6 and a 5 and decides to “hold”. Jack scores 19 points.

Example 3: Mike rolls a 2 and a 3 and decides to continue. He then rolls a 4 and a 2 and continues with his third roll of a 4 and a 3. Score 18 points.

NOTE: If a double is rolled, the player doubles that amount. For example, double 4 is 8 x 2 = 16 points, double 6 is 12 x 2 = 24 points. If a double 1 is rolled, the player gets 25 points for that roll. Only a single 1 ends a player’s turn.

When a player reaches 100 or more points, the game ends and that player wins.

The second game is a family favourite, played with enthusiasm by all age groups from 5 years old…

Black or Red

For 2 players

You will need… A dice, a pack of playing cards, 20 counters (or matches or some kind of “money”) Paper and pen for scoring

Target… Be the first player to win 10 matches

How to play… Each player gets 10 counters. Place the well-shuffled deck of cards among the players. The first player rolls the die. Then you pick up a card.

If the card RED (hearts or diamonds) pays the other player the number of counters they roll.

If the card BLACK (clubs or spades) the other player must pay him the number of counters he rolled.

Then the other players turn and roll the dice and the game continues as above.

The first player to get all 20 counters wins the game.

Whoever wins 10 games first is the winner. (or less if you want)
