Get 6 Pack Abs by Removing 6 Bad Eating Habits
Willpower is one of the KEY elements in everything in life, but especially when it comes to exercise, diet, nutrition and more. I’m willing to have more willpower to get out of debt than it is to eat healthy and exercise. Of course, getting out of debt is HUGE business, but so is increasing your life expectancy.
Guys and girls alike often fall into certain bad eating habits that keep the pounds on as each day, week, month, and year adds up and the abs never show. Doesn’t it drive you crazy when you walk past the magazine section in a supermarket or store and see men and women flaunting their lean and ripped bodies? I know it does for me. But like everything in life, you have to take baby steps to see progress. Start small… and as you progress, you will start making better decisions and before you know it… you will have the results you want.
Below is a list of bad eating habits that we humans tend to do and that we need to get away from as quickly as possible. I’m sure if you’re reading this article, these apply to you:
6 bad eating habits to break with 6 Pack abs
1. Eating fast
In short, the faster you eat, the less time your body and mind have to determine “how much” you’ve eaten. So when you switched to courses 1 and 2, assuming you were eating really fast, your body/brain didn’t catch up and said “whoa wait a minute…relax here”. Before you know it…you’ve eaten 2000 calories and you don’t feel “stuffed”. We’ve all been there. Eat more slowly, savor your food. If you don’t like it, eat smaller portions.
2. Alcohol consumption
No, I’m not saying cut out alcohol completely (although personally that would be a fantastic move), but how many times do you plan to “have a beer” or “a glass of wine” and before you know it, 3-4 beers are gone, or half a bottle of Chardonnay is missing. Guess what… you cut a TON of calories. Write it down every time you drink. So what, you have 2 drinks a night, right? Well, multiples of that every day of the week, and that can add up to more than 2,000 calories in your body. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 kg of weight.
3. Skipping meals or snacks
It’s natural to think that if you don’t eat, you’ll lose weight, but that’s a terrible myth that people follow. When you skip meals, your body starts to manage your appetite. It also causes your “hunger” to kick in, which as we all know causes your willpower to waver. Also, you need to eat to lose weight. Yes, I said it, but you have to eat smart. The right mix of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Distribute smaller snacks/meals throughout the day, every 2-3 hours. Keep the portions small, but it curbs hunger and nourishes the body in the process.
4. Eating salty foods
First of all, if you’re eating something you KNOW is salty, it’s probably not healthy at all. Sodium is one of those things that bites you because it deposits very slowly. You eat this or that all day without thinking about the sodium content, and before you know it, you’re well over the recommended amount. Add in things like popcorn at the movies or a quick bag of chips on the way out the door, and your waistline just swells. Salt also forces your body to retain water, so if you want to show off your 6-pack abs, a load of salt will kill that idea.
5. Pig on weekends
People often use the weekends as a ‘down time’, and understandably so, as a hectic work week is both mentally and physically draining. The downside is that people relax “too much” and allow themselves to snack and pig out. This is especially true when you’re going to your neighbor’s house for a barbecue, birthday party, or just hanging out. How many times do you go to a party and “graze”. You hover around the food court and just pick food, but over time all the calories add up and before you know it…BOOM. Eat something healthy before you go to a party and it will help keep the bad food at bay.
6. Eating in front of the TV – Sleeping
Everyone is guilty of this. You’re trying to relax after a tiring day at the office, your favorite show is on, or you’ve just popped in your favorite blue-ray disc and that bag of chips is on your lap. Before you know it, half the bag is gone, the 2 beers you drank are gone, and you fall asleep. The body must be awake for at least 2 hours after the last meal. Your body naturally burns calories even when you’re just sitting there. By being awake, your body burns calories to maintain your organs, walk, breathe, etc… So eat your last meal around 7-8pm and you can start going to bed by 10pm. If you fall asleep after eating, the calories you eat won’t burn as quickly.
Do your best to remove these 6 bad eating habits and I can 100% promise that 6 pack abs will come with a healthy diet and exercise plan.
