Knee Deep In The Holy Spirit

Today we will study Ezekiel’s vision as recorded in verses 47:1-4. In this vision there was a guide to guide him. This vision foretells the beginning of the Church after Christ’s resurrection and explains the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians that determines our spiritual growth and relationship with our Heavenly Father. Every day I see new Christians anxious—even impatient—to grow and receive all God’s blessings. – If you are, or have lost what you once had, hear what I have to say next.

The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer the moment he is born again. The growth process is greatly accelerated when the believer consciously surrenders to Christ and the filling and leading of the Holy Spirit. A believer empowered by the Holy Spirit, a faithful student of God’s Word, who has learned to trust and obey God, can pass through various stages of spiritual development and become a mature Christian in a short time. — Some Spirit-filled Christians exhibit more of the fruit of the Spirit within a year than others who have not been taught for 50 years or are not committed believers.

Ezekiel 47:1. “Then he brought me back to the door of the house (the church – church), and behold, water poured out from under the threshold of the house toward the east, because the front of the house was toward the east, and the water came down from the right side of the house, from the south side of the altar.” — The water we are talking about here is the Living Water – or the Holy Spirit.

As we study and surrender ourselves to God’s Word, we are more filled with the Holy Spirit. These waters came from God to the world through the church. Those living waters flow from him.

The book of the prophet Ezekiel 47:3 “And when the man who had the rope in his hand went out to the east, he measured a thousand cubits and brought him through the waters, and the water came up to his ankles.” — The water gushed forth in what appeared to be a small stream from under the Eastern Gate, which flowed a thousand cubits, a little less than a third of a mile. Ezekiel then records, “The man…brought me through the waters,” and states that he was up to his ankles. (This symbolizes the area where the new convert or infant Christian walks)

Ezekiel 47:4 Again he measured a thousand and brought me through the waters; the water was knee deep. Again he measured a thousand and carried me over; the waters are waist-deep. (This symbolizes spiritual growth and maturity as we walk deeper with the Holy Spirit).

The longer this water flowed, the deeper it became. Among other things, it symbolizes our continuous walk with the Lord, because as we walk in the Living Water and experience more and more of the Holy Spirit, we realize that His grace and love are abundant and unlimited.

BOKÁG IS STILL CHRISTIAN — This is the area where we are building our foundation. This is also the reason why my church holds a special 13-week class that teaches the basics of the Christian life to new converts. (Building a company fund).

At the moment of salvation, we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. However, each of us decides for ourselves whether we want to fill most of our lives with the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 47:3 symbolizes a new Christian stepping into ankle-deep Living Water. But you have to keep walking through this ankle-deep water if you expect to grow up. In verse 4, you will notice that as you walk down, the water gets deeper and deeper.

However, we see many Christians, new and old, walking across the river instead of going down. They come on Sunday morning, step into the water from the shore of the world, then leave the church and step back to the shore of the world. People with good intentions start our Company Funds class, but they don’t attend regularly. Some people never come to Sunday school – and only come to Sunday morning worship – never pray or read their Bibles – and then wonder why their lives are going bad or why they are not blessed by God. These people don’t even go ankle-deep – they barely put their toes in the water. In order to grow, they must walk downwards – explore beneath the surface.

We allow our trivial trials to grow into serious problems through our “self-centeredness” and lack of faith in God’s Word,

We allow a “simple disagreement” to escalate into a serious conflict that leads to broken friendships or even broken homes. – But if we had walked in the Spirit and had a right relationship with God – it would have been just a “simple disagreement”.

Our faith grows when we walk in the Spirit and receive the Word. But how many of us open our Bibles for a few minutes a day to receive His glory?

We can receive as much of the Holy Spirit as we want. All we have to do is enter the water and continue walking along the stream.

The stream is available to all of us. It’s your decision or choice to take the plunge and then have the wisdom and desire to walk down. Sometimes this requires sacrifice.

Spiritual maturity is always determined by whether we are willing to sacrifice our desires for the sake of God’s Kingdom or for the sake of others.

THE KNEE-KNEE CHRISTIAN — Ezekiel 47:4 – “Again he measured a thousand and brought me through the waters, the waters reached to my knees. Again he measured a thousand and brought me across, the waters reached to his loins.” (This symbolizes spiritual growth and maturity, as we go deeper with the Holy Spirit).

This is what the Holy Spirit does in the lives of those who obey Him. We begin to experience His gracious supply as a little stream that flows from Christ—the Fountainhead—and its value continues to increase as we descend daily in the light of His Word.

Ezekiel 47:7 “And when I returned, behold, there were many trees on the bank of the river on one side and on the other.”

When Ezekiel stepped out of the waist-deep water, he was shocked to see that both sides of the river were lined with strong, healthy trees that were laden with rich fruit. (This symbolizes the multitudes of mature Christians in the church teaching the Word and bearing new fruit.) This is where the Church will be sometime before the coming of Christ.

Galatians 5:22,23 “But when the Holy Spirit guides our lives, He produces such fruits in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

When we develop these fruits into mature Christians — broken marriages are mended, — forgiveness is easy, — joy in telling others about Jesus (obsession), — we have the patience to stop and let God move in. our lives, — God’s love is shown through us through our good deeds, — our self-control is strengthened to gain the strength to resist temptation, — our desire to serve God’s glory, — and the strength to experience joy, peace, and contentment , regardless of our situation. (How much better could life be?)

But in order to receive these things, we must step into the river of “Living Water” that Ezekiel saw in his vision, and we must continually walk until these fruits flourish in our lives. When the Holy Spirit guides our lives, we desire the knowledge that is available to us through God’s Word. We lift our hands and our voices in praise as we sing to him in our church services. We desire to become like Jesus.

If you are a Christian and your life is out of control, you are under stress and struggling with temptation. Or you are under an addiction that you cannot break. If you are not experiencing joy and peace, you may be out of water and need to step back. Or maybe it’s only up to the ankles (Maybe some have been there all their lives) and the fruits can’t bloom. Then ask God to give you strength to move forward. We must walk until we receive enough of the Holy Spirit and the Word to produce these fruits. We can receive as much of the Holy Spirit as we want. All we have to do is keep walking along the stream.

Ezekiel 47:7 symbolizes multitudes of mature Christians who taught the Word and brought forth new fruit. Thousands begin to bring others to Christ through “Bridge Ministries.”
