How to Look 10 Years Younger – 3 Anti Aging Traps to Avoid

If you’re trying to look at least 10 years younger, there’s no shortage of information or products to help you achieve your goal. These days, it seems like everywhere you turn there’s some new product or cosmetic procedure that claims to remove wrinkles, restore elasticity, restore radiance… the list goes on and on.

But before you try this breakthrough product or hit that new hot medical spa, there are three anti-aging pitfalls you need to know. Step into one of these and no matter what products you’re using, you could be undermining your results without even knowing it.

Anti Aging Trap #1 – Not having a passion for anti aging or a complete acceptance of the aging process

“Passion for anti-aging?” you say. “Of course I have a passion for antiaging. Why do you think I spend hundreds of dollars on products and procedures?”

Let’s make one thing clear – your passion for anti-aging and looking 10 years younger has nothing to do with how many products you buy or how many appointments you schedule with your plastic surgeon. The anti-aging passion starts in the brain:

For example: Every morning when I wake up, the first thing on my mind is anti-aging. I am constantly researching, studying and putting test ideas into practice to stay and feel younger and more vibrant. I thoroughly enjoy it and not a day goes by without me thinking about anti-aging and trying to look 10 years younger.

Now I know that not everyone or even can wake up to anti-aging on the brain. There are children to go to school, jobs to go to, bills to pay; the list goes on and on.

But to really achieve any level of anti-aging, you have to have a passion for it.

Why?

Because passion for anything, whether it’s looking 10 years younger, losing weight or getting a promotion, starts in the brain. The moment you decide to achieve something, your brain immediately starts coming up with ideas to implement that plan. Passion is the fuel that drives this process. The more passionate you are about an idea, the more likely you are to achieve what you want.

Unfortunately, anti-aging or trying to look 10 years younger or faster is losing momentum. This is because many people think that there are only a few options to stay really young. As they begin to age, they believe that the only option they have is plastic surgery or Botox. Which brings us to the next anti-aging trap:

Anti Aging Trap #2 – plastic surgery and cosmetic procedure overload

I recently met a 48-year-old woman who was apparently addicted to plastic surgery. His face was smooth, taut and unlined. He had no wrinkles on his forehead, around his eyes or mouth. But guess what? He didn’t look ten years younger. She looked like a 48-year-old woman with a lot of work to do.

His face was like a mask, even though he was smiling. You can see this look on many celebrities (Courtney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Joan Rivers). Maybe that’s why some people think it’s the best way to fight the aging process. People love to imitate their favorite stars.

Now, I’m not against plastic surgery. Compared to just 10 years ago, plastic and cosmetic surgery has come a long way in helping people everywhere look and feel younger. And maybe that’s the problem. Because it has become so much more affordable, it is now a quick fix instead of a last resort. Too much plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures will not make you look 10 years younger. However, it makes you look weird, unnatural and plastic surgery crazy.

Anti Aging Trap #3 Placing the chest too low

When I ask women what they really want to achieve with all their efforts to stay young, most of them often say the following:

“I want to look good for my age.”

The only way I know how to answer that statement is “Why?”

If you really want to look good for your age, whether it’s 30, 40 or 50+, then I say go for it. You can probably reach your goal in a few months if you haven’t already. But know this:

You will never go to a college sporting event and be mistaken for a band of 4 different students. You can’t wear a mini skirt and look “age appropriate”. (Sorry for using that phrase. I actually despise it, but that’s a whole other article.) You never go jogging and three seventeen-year-olds on scooters ask what college you’re going to.

Why? Because “looking good for your age” sets the bar too low. Sure, you look good, but only for your age. It’s the equivalent of the comment: “you throw pretty well for a girl”. You want to look good period. You want to look so good that no one can tell you look good for your age because no one can tell how old you are.

I know many women over 40 who can and have been mistaken for colleges. Who still have the ability to pull off a mini and flip flops. And who are the 17-year-old boys waving at on their motorcycles and scooters

Now that we’ve discussed three antiaging traps and how easy it is to fall into them, let’s talk about the good news. See the following quote:

“Anti Aging is a way of life for us. My wife and I decided a long time ago that we will not age. We are going to eat right, keep trying new things, take care of our bodies. But most importantly, we put our minds to it and I think we will be fine.” – From a 52-year-old man and his 46-year-old wife.

This quote came from a couple I met recently who I guessed were in their late thirties. The man admitted to me that he was actually 52 and his wife was 46. I was quite amazed. Being as obsessed as I am with anti-aging, I can usually guess people’s ages pretty well. So this really made me see.

This couple looked, walked and talked like they were 35 years old. And then a young 35. It was really amazing and I couldn’t stop watching them.

So how did they manage to look at least 10-15 years younger? Is it possible they had plastic surgery?

They were very open and honest about their beauty regimen and maintenance. They told me they haven’t had “any Botox”. And no plastic surgery. Both have peels every six months to rejuvenate their skin. They don’t eat any processed food and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. They train 5 days a week, stretch extensively to stay flexible and agile, and keep up with the latest innovations in the anti-aging industry.

Everything they told me was fascinating and their plan worked for them. But I kept coming back to their original quote: “My wife and I decided we weren’t going to grow old.”

This little statement is one of the main reasons why they are able to stay so vibrant and youthful. In their minds, they would not accept the aging process, and once they had this confirmation in their brains, it set in motion a lifelong plan to fight aging at every turn. Once that confirmation was firmly in place, everything else that followed became second nature to them.

And that’s the real key to anti-aging and staying young and vibrant. By believing with absolute certainty that you can. So stay passionate about anti-aging, don’t overdo cosmetic and plastic surgery, and set the bar high. When you avoid these anti-aging traps, you’ll be surprised how quickly your body and mind respond. You might just wake up in a few months looking 10 years younger.
