4 Tips for Choosing the Right Triathlon Running Shoe
When I first started training for triathlons, I had no idea the amount of equipment needed or the specifics. Of course I knew I needed a bike, running shoes and clothes, but I had no idea about watches, cycling shoes, aero helmets, aero bikes, wetsuits or countless other things. In fact, my first pair of running shoes were simply ones I bought cheaply at a local sports store. I just had no idea.
When I started getting more serious about my racing and running, I knew I had to buy shoes that would allow me to perform at my best. Once again I was unsure where to turn to begin this process. I looked online and looked for different products for running shoes. I found a lot of information especially about running marathons or distance races. I couldn’t find much information about specific triathlon shoe ideas. I took some ideas from the information I found and started the shoe shopping process.
Along the way, I have found several different ideas for choosing shoes that I would like to share in this post.
- Get Fit – No, this is not an unnecessary idea of improving your physical condition, but rather getting fit according to the type of shoes you need. Most running specialty stores will help you find the best shoe for you. Many of these stores will take you through a series of tests to determine which shoe fits you best. After doing this a few times, the process goes something like this. First, the sales representative will talk to you a bit about what you do for running, how long you’ve been running and what your running goals are.
